Last week, we shared a sighting where and elephant approached one of our stationary safari vehicles for a calm closer inspection.

Since then, our guide Themba, also had a sighting where the vehicle was off, a distance away from the elephants, and an elephant approached with some interest and animation. In this instance, Themba made a call to keep both our guests and the elephant out of harm's way. That's the thing about the wild - it's unscripted and undiluted nature, and that is what makes it so special.

There are moments in life when time stands still. Moments that take your breath away... Moments that are so profound and special that you can never forget them.

Our guests on a in , recently had the experience of a lifetime, when they were sitting quietly near an elephant - just immersing themselves in the peace and tranquility, and the beauty of the moment... Then, the elephant decided to approach them and do a closer inspection of our safari vehicle. The elephant was calm and curious and our guests were blown away by the privilege of the experience.

N.B. strictly adheres to the ethos of respecting the wild fauna and flora of our environment. Our guides are professional and respectful of the wild and this experience was the result of the elephant choosing to approach and interact on his own time and terms. Starting the vehicle and speeding off is not recommended (unless there is a crisis).

Many would say that winter in southern , is perfection! Sunny, hot days and cool nights...
That's why this herd of elephants were staying cool under a tree:-). Elephants often take a break under trees to rest and cool down in the Lowveld heat.

Elephants flap their large ears to cool themselves, as their ears are very thin - allowing the blood to cool on the large surface - as you can see in this recent clip shared by our guide, Sibusiso.
