A LITTLE MORE SEA AIR. A LITTLE LESS REASON TO LEAVE.

You know Marrian George in the Swartland. Now, meet its coastal side.

Introducing George’s Beach Cottage, Joanne’s own beach house in Paternoster, now available as part of the Marrian George experience.

Just 25 metres from the shoreline, this is a place for mornings with coffee on the upstairs veranda, barefoot walks along the beach, seafood suppers, a glass of w**e as the evening settles in, and the simple pleasure of having a few days with nowhere else to be.

With space for up to five guests, a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor braai and an indoor fireplace, George’s Beach Cottage invites you to make yourself at home and experience the West Coast at your own pace.

Whether you are passing through Koringberg, planning a lunch with friends or simply in need of a good meal somewhere with character, MG Canteen would love to welcome you.

Our menu celebrates uncomplicated food made with care, from silky potato and leek vichyssoise with basil oil, creamy yoghurt and crispy warm potatoes to golden fishcakes served with seasonal slaw.

Even George has thought of everything.

For the four legged guests who come along for lunch, there’s a little spot waiting for the important things too.

Tucked inside the MG Canteen, our resident George is always on hand to keep a lead or collar safely off the floor while you settle in, catch up and enjoy your time around the table.

A small detail, perhaps. But then, good hospitality has always been about the details.

And this one happens to have a rather good nose for it.

THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT A TABLE THAT IS ALREADY SET.

The room is ready. The glasses are polished. The linen is folded just so, and the afternoon light finds its way across the old wooden tables.

SOME MORNINGS NEED VERY LITTLE.

A warm cup in your hands. The pool catching the morning sun. A view that stretches over the wheatfields and towards the hills beyond Koringberg.

At Marrian George, the best part of the morning may simply be finding a chair, taking your coffee outside and watching the day begin without asking it to hurry.

MEET GEORGE.

Not the dog.
Well, not quite.

With a flock of ducks taking flight across the headboard and a palette rich in plum, brass and warm wood, the George room is a playful nod to the other namesake behind Marrian George: the owner’s rather regal English Pointer.

Downstairs, with its own bay window looking onto the indigenous gardens and pool terrace, George has a character all of its own. A room for slow mornings, bare feet on cool floors and opening the curtains to see what the day has in store.

And should the real George happen to come by to say hello, consider that part of the stay.

A ROOM THAT KNOWS WHERE IT COMES FROM.

Tartans, country-house wallpaper, a deep red wall and a little piece of England brought into the heart of the Swartland.

Upstairs at Marrian George, the Marrian room is a celebration of the owner’s English and Scottish heritage, thoughtfully woven together with the landscape outside. Through the wide sash windows, the countryside takes over, with wheatfields stretching towards the hills beyond.

And just across the corridor, the Sky Deck waits for an afternoon drink, a night under the stars or one last glass before bed.
