“What a wonderful getaway!” 🌿
Sybrand and Annemarie Le Roux recently spent a few days at campsite 12 along the river — enjoying the peaceful surroundings, incredible birdlife, and the simple joy of being completely off the grid.
With no cellphone signal, the sound of the river, and time to rest, laugh and even do a bit of fishing, it was exactly the kind of break we all need!

“Wat ’n heerlike wegbreek!” 🌿
Sybrand en Annemarie Le Roux het onlangs ’n paar dae by staanplek 12 langs die rivier deurgebring — met rustige natuurskoon, volop voëllewe en die eenvoudige vreugde om regtig af te skakel (van alle tegnologie).
Sonder selfoonsein, met die sagte klanke van die rivier, tyd om te rus, kuier en selfs ’n bietjie te visvang, was dit presies die tipe wegbreek wat ’n mens nodig het.
Baie dankie dat julle hierdie spesiale ervaring met ons gedeel het 💚

Biggest Carp caught to date at Briintjieskraal🎣

Caught at campsite 12 on the weekend of 11-12th of August.

Unfortunately no other info on the size or weight of the fish.

For those interested in the bird life within the Baviaans.

Credit to Dave Todd for his exceptional photography and dedication to learn more about the raptors of the Baviaanskloof.

Point of interest:
Verreaux’s eagles of Baviaanskloof.
The egg takes about 43 to 48 days to hatch. The young chick takes a further 90 to 98 days in the nest before fledging. The parents will still take care and teach the juvenile for another 13 to 19 weeks before it is forced to find its own new territory.
