From our home at the summit of Sani Pass, the feature shares the remarkable landscape, mountain hospitality and high-altitude experience that have shaped Sani Mountain Escape for more than 50 years. The latest Southern Drakensberg update reports snow on the peaks, with cold, overcast conditions and steady rain.

Roads are wet, while dirt roads may be slippery and unpredictable. Sani Pass remains a 4x4-only road, and sections of the switchbacks are currently inaccessible.

Please drive slowly, practise patience and caution, and follow all official guidance. If travel is essential, using a professional tour operator is strongly recommended. All travel is undertaken at your own risk.
