Our Story

Beachcombers Bed & Breakfast is a beach cottage establishment situated in L’Agulhas, the southernmost town in Africa. Flanked by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Indian Ocean to the east, this the official place where the two oceans meet and boasts rich marine, bird as well as botanical life. Beachcombers is located within the hub of the town of L’ Agulhas and is within walking distance of restaurants, shops, hiking trails, the famous lighthouse and tidal pools.

Our property was built in 1948 and has always been a bed and breakfast. My husband is a gifted artisan and Goldsmith but comes from a family of quantity surveyors and contractors and has lovingly renovated the property himself. We wanted to incorporate the character of the surrounding area and give the property a warm beach cottage feel. We cladded the walls with limestone sourced in the area and have created a garden intended to encourage the abundant bird life in the area to become frequent visitors.

One of our favourite features is our fish pond which not only welcomes guests to our property but has enticed weaver birds to become residence at Beachcombers. Agulhas is a quiet and tranquil village and the sound of the trickling fountain only enhances the feeling of relaxation.

We believe Beachcombers to be an oasis for those looking to find respite from the busy pace of everyday life and is the only place where you will find a Goldsmith at the southernmost point in Africa.
