Eingedi Retreat Lodge, Retreat, Self catering chalets and huts Welcome to Eingedi Retreat. We are passionate about family and living according to the Scriptures.

We are located in the South Eastern Free State between Ladybrand and Hobhouse on a beautiful, tranquil game farm with views of the Maluti mountains. Our lifestyle is based on the Hebrew perspective of our Christian faith where we enjoy celebrating the feasts and living in a community setting. We are a family friendly resort catering for guests who enjoy wildlife/nature. We cater for outdoor enthus

iasts who enjoy hiking, walking, game viewing, swimming & braaing. It is a working, self sustainable farm with many domestic animals (birds, geese, ducks, chickens, sheep, donkey and horses) on it for children to enjoy. We can cater for up to 50 guests in self catering thatch roof accommodation consisting of chalets and wooden huts. We also have caravan and camping sites. We offer conference facilities. In the near future we will have 4 x 4 game drives, outrides on horseback and a non-licensed restaurant. If you enjoy a remote, quiet tranquility without cellphone coverage, come and enjoy what Eingedi has to offer.

✔The outside slab has been completed
✔The cupboard doors have been treated and are hanging
✔The sink has arrived
✔The French Drain is being dug
✔The electrical wiring is in the process of being completed
✔The scullery roof is going up

More Projects⚒💪

While the concrete work is happening, we decided to repair the floors in Gilgal (our sewing area and store room), and the laundry.

These floors had been crying out for attention and help for a few years...and at last their day has come👏🏻.

We cleared the rooms, sealed the doors, removed the old screed, and layed a new one in the laundry.
Gilgal received a step where the small ramp was disintegrating, and will have a new tiled finish👏🏻

Much activity and big steps of improvement💪🎊🎉

☆The wall sills have been repainted
☆Holes drilled for the plumbing
☆Sand & stone chips have been delivered for the slab

The cupboard frames are ready to have the doors fitted.

Under the watchful eyes of the ladies and children....the men are doing a great job😃

A Bridge in the Forest

With the heavy rains we have had late in the season, part of our very special and popular Dorcas Walk to Shama Dam washed away.🌨🥴

But with a little initiative and a good idea, we now have a new bridge in Gilead Gardens. 👏🏻⚒

What a lovely little addition to the walk.....rustic and inviting.

A good lesson in turning a problem into a new opportunity💪

Central Boma Kitchen Update⚒

Progress is continuing well, despite the excessive rainfall, mud, cold and sleet🌨❄

The cupboard walls have been bricked and plastered, and now the counter buidling work can begin 👏🏻👍🏻⚒

The outside work is also moving forward at a good pace. Stones and soil are being removed in preparation for the construction of the slab between the fire-pit and counter area.

It will be a fabulous addition to what Eingedi has to offer👏🏻

Wet and Busy Farm Life

What a pose....a new way of repairing vehicle motors🤣Who needs a ramp when you can climb on top, but 4x4 Big Red is needed with all the mud and rain over the last 24 hours.🌨💧🌨💧

What fun to explore the streams and mud patches that are normally non-existent. Thank you for gumboots!!

The boma renovations are continuing⚒, while the little people enjoy frog hunts🐸, and the trees quietly change their colours to an autumn look.🍂🍁🍂🍁

LATEST PROJECT - Central Kitchen

After numerous requests from groups hiring Eingedi as a venue, we have decided it is time to do it🎉💪

We had a look at our boma next to the fire-pit, and Mandy used her computer program to design a practical central outdoor kitchen, for groups to enjoy.

Have a look at the plan, and let us know what you think?

Yes, the fireplace is staying👏🏻🔥, and there will be a table and chairs to dine around.

Also .... a lovely big stove, lots of counter tops and cupboard space with crockery and cutlery, fridge, chest freezer, and an outdoor scullery with a Rocket donkey boiler to provide hot water.

This will be a wonderful space to hire if you enjoy preparing communal food together, or want to bring a group and do self-catering.

Kevin started with the renovations today, under Mandy's watchful eye. Even the little boys got involved in smashing old bench slabs with big hammers....for real fun🎉🤩🤩

We'll keep you updated.

Owls, Bats......and Bees🦉🦇🐝

We have been building and erecting owl and bat boxes in order to attract these helpful animals, who keep the rat and insect population at bay.

We have been watching these additions with eager anticipation, wondering when the first Barn Owl, Spotted Eagel Owl or bat would move into their new abode.

To our surprise, none of these took residence, but an opportunistic swarm of bees decided they quite liked the home meant for the Barn Owl. 🥸

Of course we love bees too, but not in our Owl box!
And now the big task to move them out! 🐝
