Riding for a good cause πππ π
What started as a playful idea between four friends has now grown into a meaningful fundraising adventure aimed at protecting something priceless - a friendβs eyesight! Under the banner 'Tjommies, Tunes & Tekkies Adventures', the group has launched Adventure 3, a three-day charity cycle meant to combine fun challenges with a serious cause.
The ride is dedicated to raising funds for Danel Marshall, a former Bloemfontein resident who urgently needs operations on both of her eyes. Without the necessary procedures within the next six months, she risks losing her vision completely. The cyclists are using their journey to remind the public that making a difference does not require being an elite athlete - just a willingness to show up.
Adventure 3 spans 200 kilometres over three days, with each day introducing a different interactive challenge. Day one invites supporters to guess how far one of the riders will cycle, with donations calculated at R10 per kilometre. Day two allows the public to sponsor individual kilometres and influence the ridersβ choice of deliberately wacky outfits. The final day features a short, carefully controlled βblind rideβ challenge, symbolising the reality faced by their friend and reinforcing why the fundraiser matters.
Donations of any size are welcomed via Back a Buddy, with contributions starting from as little as R100. The team, together with My City, will be sharing progress updates, behind-the-scenes moments and plenty of light-hearted content along the way - balancing humour with heart throughout the journey. This is a reminder that community action, creativity and compassion can come together to make a real impact - one pedal stroke at a time!
