SPRING has officially sprung at Spring-bok Lodge! 🌿

And we’re looking forward to all the little signs that come with it…

The first rainbows after the rains. 🌈
The veld slowly turning greener.
The return of the dung beetles.
More birds filling the bush with their calls — and a flash of colour as some of our summer visitors return in their brightest plumage. 🐦
And, a little later in the season, the very best part of all — the start of baby season. 🐾

There’s something special about watching the bush change with the seasons. Every week brings something a little different.

LAST WEEK, our views went beyond the usual safari sightings — we were treated to the annual spectacle of the Drakensberg mountains blanketed in snow. ❄️

It may have made our game drives a little colder, but certainly no less spectacular. Some views are worth wrapping up for. 🧣✨

THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL about driving into an elephant sighting.

It is something exceptional to watch a breeding herd, together with a few bulls, gathered around a watering hole. Watching them interact, listening to their deep rumbles and seeing them move so silently, yet with such a big presence.

This past weekend, one of our guests captured this beautiful picture of an elephant drinking. 🐘

A simple moment, but a big reminder of just how incredible these animals are — and how important it is that we protect them.

WORLD LION DAY — HEAR THEM ROAR! 🦁

Can you imagine going on safari and not being able to see a lion?

Not because they were difficult to find that day.
Not because they were hiding in thick bush.

But because they no longer existed.

World Lion Day is a reminder that even one of the most sought-after animals on safari is facing a decline — and that protecting them matters.

Yesterday, we had an incredible sighting of the two new lions recently released onto the reserve. As we watched them, we could hear other lions vocalising around us.

It was one of those moments that gives you goosebumps.

Two new lions finding their place. Other lions vocalising just out of sight. And suddenly, the importance of protecting these animals felt very real.

Because we don't want to only hear their vocals in the future from a recording of what was. We want to hear them in the present out on game reserves - where they belong.
