home to the Big 5, as well a wide variety of bird and wildlife, which guests get to experience in daily drives on our private game vehicles. Cheetah Ridge Lodge was originally built in 1942 and served as a farmhouse, but is now a superior-rated guest lodge, holding a particular historical charm, matched by no other on the reserve. An array of animals including Giraffe, Impala, Zebra, Elephants, Wildebeest, Warthog and even the odd Lion have been known to make an appearance at the private dam. The Lodge boasts:
- 10 unique luxurious suites with private viewing decks overlooking the Cheetah Ridge dam
- A family suite sleeping up to 6 guests in the main lodge
- A private deck underneath a magnificent 112-year old Wild Fig Tree

- They strike prey with kicks delivered at speeds of up to 121 mph; powerful enough to kill venomous snakes.
- These birds can walk 12–18 miles per day while hunting across open grasslands!

The Buffalo 🐃
Formidable. Loyal. Resilient.

Did you know? 💡
- Buffalo herds can range from 50 to over 1,000 individuals, creating one of the strongest defensive forces in the African bush and offering protection through unity and teamwork.
- Adult males can weigh up to 2,000 lbs and run at speeds of up to 34 mph.
- Buffalo are known to actively defend herd members and have even been observed returning to rescue calves or injured adults from predators, even lions!

African buffalo are one of the most formidable members of the Big Five, spend some time with them on your next drive and feel their incredible commanding presence!

- Unlike other big cats, cheetahs don’t roar. Instead, they purr, chirp, and hiss to communicate.
