Bokkoms en Blomme: Where Culture Meets Tourism on the West Coast

This weekend, Lambert’s Bay is set to come alive with the inaugural Bokkoms en Blomme Arts Festival – bringing together art, music, flowers, craft and one of the West Coast’s most iconic delicacies: bokkoms.

But this is about more than just a festival. It’s a powerful example of how events, culture and local experiences can drive tourism and create meaningful economic opportunities for smaller destinations.

With accommodation already filling up, restaurants preparing for increased trade and visitors travelling from across the Western Cape and beyond, Bokkoms en Blomme is putting Lambert’s Bay firmly on the tourism map – during what would traditionally be a quieter winter period.

Could this be the start of a new annual tourism tradition for the West Coast? We certainly hope so!
