They’ve arrived. 🐃

A powerful herd of buffalo have officially settled into their new home in the breathtaking Nala Hills Wilderness — and they’re already claiming their space, grazing across the hills and gathering at the waterholes like they’ve always belonged here.

Did you know?
• Buffalo are one of Africa’s “Big Five” and are known for their incredible strength and resilience.
• They are highly social animals, living in herds that can range from a few dozen to hundreds.
• A herd protects its own — they will stand together and even circle back to defend members from predators.
• Despite their tough reputation, they spend most of their day grazing peacefully on grasses.

The arrival of these magnificent animals marks an exciting new chapter for Nala Hills Wilderness — strengthening biodiversity and restoring the rhythm of the wild.

Here’s to new beginnings and the thunder of hooves across the hills.

Spectacular Sighting at Nala Hills Wilderness!

We were treated to an incredible display of nature's raw beauty—a 4.5-meter python in the process of feeding on an impala. It's moments like these that remind us of the circle of life and the fascinating behaviors of wildlife.

Did you know?
- Pythons can consume prey much larger than their head, thanks to their flexible jaws!
- They are non-venomous constrictors, using their powerful bodies to suffocate their catch.
- A large meal can last them for weeks, or even months.
- Pythons are found in a variety of habitats, showcasing the incredible adaptability of nature.

Nature never fails to humble and amaze.

Exciting Sighting at Nala Hills Wilderness!

We recently came across a Mole Snake slithering through the bushveld — a fascinating and often misunderstood reptile!

Though they might look intimidating, mole snakes are non-venomous and play a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling rodent populations. They’re powerful burrowers, often taking over old mole tunnels — hence the name!

Keep your eyes peeled on your next visit… you never know what incredible wildlife you might encounter in the wild heart of Nala Hills.

Spotted at Nala Hills Wilderness — the Rough Burrower Scorpion!

These fascinating creatures are masters of survival in the African bush:
🔸 Known for their strong pincers and rough-textured bodies that help them blend into sandy soil.
🔸 They are burrowers, spending much of their time underground to escape the heat and ambush prey.
🔸 Despite their fearsome look, their sting is usually mild compared to other scorpions — more like a bee sting to humans.
🔸 They play an important role in the ecosystem by keeping insect populations in check.

Nature never ceases to amaze us at Nala Hills

WARTHOG I Nala Hills Wilderness

These tough and quirky creatures are more than just cartoon favorites. Here are a few fascinating facts about warthogs:

- Despite their looks, warthogs are surprisingly fast—reaching speeds up to 55 km/h when fleeing predators.
- They often kneel on their front knees to graze or dig for food.
- Warthogs are part of the pig family and primarily eat grasses, roots, berries, and even bark.
- Those “warts” on their face? They’re actually protective growths that help during fights.
- Warthogs often take over abandoned aardvark burrows for shelter—and they back in, so they can charge out if threatened!

Spotted in the heart of Nala Hills, this resilient animal reminds us of the wild beauty we strive to protect every day.
