Sustainability has always been central to the ethos of Glen Eden, long before it found new life as a boutique hotel 🏨!

The previous owners sourced fittings from demolishers. All the doors and windows found new purpose here. Like these stairs, previously from an old nunnery. Or the sturdy yellowwood beams from an old bank 🏦.

We even have the old ticketing windows from the Durban Railway 🚃 Station! And our beautiful harvest high table is from a repurposed telegraph table!

We took the same approach during the year-long renovation. And our aspiration, for the coming year, is to establish an extensive permaculture garden 🪴 to supply the lodge.

So you can look forward to a fully integrated field 🌽 to fork 🍴 food offering in future. No junk. No fertilisers or pesticides. Just wholesome fresh produce!

We have an exciting - and enticing - schedule of upcoming events planned at the lodge over the coming months, starting with a traditional Sunday roast lunch on our terrace, overlooking the front garden.

Our cherry tree will be in full bloom within a few weeks, and the irises will be peeping through!

But don’t let that stop you from visiting anytime! The garden is splendiferous, and a river walk will be rejuvenating!
