I spent seven days driving the length of Limpopo province. I saw and did so many remakable things and met many inspiring people. Here are a few highlights.

Dr Andre Hattingh was our special guest last night, staying with us at Madi a Thavha mountain lodge. Saturday morning he left White river for a 3 weeks road bike trip of 5670 kilometres around South Africa and Madi a Thavha was his first overnight stop.
The purpose of this “ride for a child” charity ride, is to generate funds for 1000 surgeries for 1000 children Campaign and to raise awareness of the plight of children that requires surgeries, and simply can’t get help. He will be back at White river on the 5th of March, he will ride the entire route, inviting guest riders and motor bike clubs across South Africa to join him anywhere on his route around South Africa. His start was tuff, it was raining this morning and the 3 kilometres gravel road to Madi a Thavha was very muddy, but he made it to reach the main road, he is now on his way to Ellisras.

Visit us tomorrow during First Sunday Open studios’s at Victoria Yards. This is our last Open Sunday having our Madi a Thavha CraftArt centre at the Lower Precinct, because next week we are going to move to one of the new studio’s close to the entrance gate of Victoria Yards. We like the place with high ceilings and big windows and now everybody will find us easily. You are welcome to visit us from Saturday 8 February, but first we would like to welcome you tomorrow at our current place, Building 9C.

We proudly announce that we are the winner of the BASA (Business and Arts South Africa) Cultural Tourism Award. This Award is for business support to arts and culture projects, which contributes towards the growth of communities and jobs, and supports the opportunities provided by local tourism.

We entered the Award because of the partnership between Madi a Thavha mountain lodge in Limpopo, our CraftArt centre at Victoria Yards Joburg and the Venda and Tsonga artisans in Northern Limpopo.

We feel recognised in our efforts initiating innovative product development and creating market access opportunities with the Northern Limpopo artisans by organising arts and culture tour programmes to the rural villages and presenting and selling heritage inspired arts and crafts products at Madi a Thavha mountain lodge and our CraftArt centre at Victoria Yards. We are also grateful towards the National Arts Council of South Africa who contributed to our support of the Limpopo artisans. .
