🎣 Rivendell Trout Estate - The End of an Era
And so, after many wonderful years, the time has come to say goodbye to Rivendell Trout Estate.
The sale of Rivendell has been concluded and the final transfer is almost complete. As this chapter draws to a close, we are no longer taking new bookings, and with that comes the quiet ending of Rivendell as the fly-fishing retreat so many of you have come to know and love.
Rivendell has been so much more than a place. It has been Angus and Jenny's home, a dream, a tremendous amount of hard work, and a very special part of our lives. It has been our family's safe haven. We have watched it grow and change over the years, and alongside it, we have watched our own family create beautiful memories — including grandchildren taking their first steps, making memories and growing up amongst the mountains, horses, chickens and our beautiful trout-filled river.
There have been early mornings on the water, evenings around the fire, beautiful friendships made, countless stories shared, many first and lasts, and more memories than we could ever begin to count.
Angus and Jenny will now move into a peaceful and very well-deserved retirement in KwaZulu-Natal. They are looking forward to having time to simply enjoy being together — slow mornings, travelling, caring for their horses, fly fishing, and having the freedom to follow wherever the next adventure takes them.
Leaving Rivendell is, of course, bittersweet. We will miss it deeply, and it will always have a very special place in our hearts. There is so much of ourselves woven into it — years of work, love, laughter, challenges and the occasional character-building moment or two! 😆
Most of all, we are deeply grateful to all the wonderful guests who have passed through Rivendell over the years. You have been such an important part of its story and have helped make it what it became. Thank you for the friendships, the conversations, the laughter, the shared love of the outdoors and, of course, the fishing.
And to those guests who kept life particularly interesting along the way… you know who you are. 😉 Every chapter needs a few memorable characters!
Rivendell’s story as we have known it is now coming to an end, but the memories will remain — in the landscape, in the stories we tell, and in the many people who will always remember it as a very special place.
It is time to close the gate on this chapter and look forward with gratitude and excitement to the next.
Thank you, Rivendell. Thank you to everyone who shared it with us.
🍻 Here’s to a slower pace, more time together, horses, fly fishing, travelling and the freedom to simply enjoy what comes next.
May the next chapter be blessed!
