It is Park Mahala week! Every year the local Nature Reserves encourage South Africans to visit the Reserves in their area free of charge, or as we say here in South Africa for "Mahala". Because Madikwe is not open to day visitors, Madikwe invites schools from neighbouring communities to let their students experience game drives and get to see the wonderful Fauna and Flora in their back yards. It is a great opportunity to educate the next generation about the bush and spark an interest in a career in the bush.

It is not often we get to see the Hippos out of water. On this particular afternoon, the hippo was having a nap on the riverbank, until the baboons and wildebeest kept trying to use his nap spot as a path to the water...
