There’s something special about encountering the younger residents of the bush. Curious, alert and already learning the ways of the wild.
This little black-backed jackal pup may still have some growing to do, but there’s no shortage of character. 🤎

One of those unexpected safari moments that reminds us to keep looking beyond the Big Five.

Often misunderstood, these fascinating predators are intelligent, highly social and incredibly skilled hunters. Their famous “laugh” is actually one of the many ways they communicate with members of their clan.

And while they may not always get the same attention as the Big Five, a close encounter with a spotted hyena is every bit as memorable.

One of Madikwe’s most fascinating residents! And definitely deserving of a little more credit. 🤎

Tshukudu means “rhino” and is the name of one of our private villas at Rockfig Lodge.

Today, on World Rhino Day, we’re celebrating the meaning behind the name and reflecting on the remarkable animals it represents.

The rhino is a symbol of strength, resilience and the wild spaces we are privileged to share with wildlife.
