🐍💚 Meet the Green Water Snake!

If you’re lucky enough to spot a beautiful green snake near water or among the lush vegetation around Magalies Sleepy River, you may be looking at a Green Water Snake. Despite its striking appearance, this snake is non-venomous and harmless to humans.

These shy, quick-moving snakes are excellent swimmers and are often found near streams, dams and other damp habitats where frogs and other small prey are plentiful. 🌿💧

So, if one crosses your path, there’s no need for alarm—give it some space and enjoy the privilege of seeing one of Sleepy Rivers fascinating wild residents. 🐍🌿

Exciting things happening in Magaliesburg!

Come enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air with us! Whether you want to browse our variety of stalls, picnic or braai with the family, or spend the weekend in the glorious Magaliesburg, this is the time and place!

We are hosting the first Sleepy River Community Market at Magalies Sleepy River Camping Resort on the 29th of August 2026 from 8am to 4pm. We are sharing camp related businesses and homegrown self-starters, including "homemade with love" in the Magaliesburg and Hekpoort area and surrounds.

There is no entrance fee or parking fee payable for this event.

Filled with exciting stands and fabulous entertainment!

Magalies Sleepy River Camp Resort is offering great camping specials for the weekend, R100 per person per night, R60 for children between 6 and 12, under 6 is free. For more details contact Mari on 082 555 9684.

A huge thank you to the Scouts for choosing to use our camping facilities! It was a pleasure having you with us, and we were especially impressed by your fantastic camp setup. The tents, pioneering structures and well-organised camp area looked excellent and showed a real sense of teamwork and Scout spirit.

We hope you enjoyed your time here as much as we enjoyed having you, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another adventure in the future!
