Sitting by the pond, breakfast of oats and raisin porridge close at hand, is a peaceful way to start the day. Peaceful. Restful. Great. Now I know why guests like to do this.

To relax by the pond at this time of day, waiting for the water lilies to open up and say Hello to the morning, appeals to the soul. Birds twitter in the background while the sun softly glimmers through the trees overhead.

On this warm autumn morning with no rain or cold forecast, guests get ready for a great day out on tour.

There are not many flowers around at this time of the year. But this beautiful bromeliad decided to prove me wrong.

Bromeliads are native to South America, but the warm climate and similar growing conditions are favourable for them in several other places, including Kosi Bay.

We have a couple of different kinds at the lodge, but this one caught my eye on the way to one of the chalets. As it casually waved in the gentle breeze, it was as if it was beckoning me to come and take a photo. So not wanting to disappoint, I accepted the invitation.

We offer packages for hikes, snorkeling, kayaking and accommodation, all through the year.
