The original Farmstead was a chilli farm constructed 1893 and was renovated and revamped in 1990, when the exquisite accommodation suites were constructed and the boutique hotel opened it’s doors in 1991. The renovations have retained the character of the era whilst ensuring that today’s discriminating guests luxuriate in modern comforts, with total privacy and personal service. A fine collection
of antiques and Persian carpets adorns the reception rooms, warmed by crackling fires when winter’s chill sets in. Highgrove House is only an easy four hours' drive from Johannesburg in the heart of Mpumalanga, 15 km away from Hazyview, Within 20 minutes of the Kruger National Park and close to the top Private Game Reserves in the Sabi Sands including Londolozi and Mala Mala. Highgrove House is an ideal base for relaxing drives through the stunning scenery of the Blyde River Canyon and the escarpment with places to visit like the Three Rondawels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window & Pinnacle viewpoint, Jock of the Bushveld, numerous waterfalls and the historic town of Pilgrim’s Rest. An entire tour of the Panorama Route takes about a day.
