This fabulous thatch timber holiday home sleeps up to 10 people, is on the Great Olifants River surrounded by mountains in the bush and only 1.5 hours from Jo'burg and Pretoria! We have chosen furnishings that are rustic and solid wood with brightly coloured ethnically patterned decor, to enhance it and give a happy inviting relaxing ambience. rated private bedrooms with double/queen sized beds (can accommodate 2 couples) and a huge loft room upstairs that can sleep up to 6 people (suitable for children). It has 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen with top notch appliances and absolutely everything you need for cooking, braaiing and entertaining, a large comfy living area with huge flop down couches and a legendary Union no. 7 coalstove for heating in winter and cooking potjies, baking bread and brewing "boeretroos". This area opens onto very scenic decks and the outdoor entertainment, braai area and fire pit under a canopy of indigenous trees. The River House is situated on a very large property that is fully grassed and suitable for children's play and has 270 degree river frontage with the most beautiful views. The entertainment area and garden lead onto a private "beach" which is used for sunbathing, swimming, tubing, black bass and yellowfish fishing, birdwatching and just soaking in the breathtaking surroundings. Other activities to look forward to include hiking on the famous Cycad Hiking Trail, canoeing (we have two canoes), tubing (we have five tubes), enjoyment of our Lenatus cycads which are indigenous to the area, and if you choose to, the use of the facilities at the lodge that is down the road from us which include restaurants and pubs, indoor heated pools and outdoor pools, table tennis and more (day visitor rates apply when the lodge is available to day visitors). Our rates are R2 400 per night over normal week nights, weekends and holidays and R2700 per night over long weekends and December until mid January with a minimum of a 2 night stay. We also cater for corporate letting at a cost of R18900 per month.
