Thank you to The Munga family for these beautiful words and for honouring my dad in such a special way.

My dad poured his heart into Gannaga Lodge and the Tankwa. He loved the people, the stories, the endless Karoo landscapes, and creating a place where strangers became friends.

Seeing how many lives he touched through Gannaga and the tourism community means more to our family than words can say.

Rest softly, Pa. The Tankwa Karoo will always carry a part of you❤️

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Johan Visagie of Gannaga Lodge this morning.

Gannaga Lodge has been one of the most beloved stops on the Munga journey for years. A place that feels like home in the middle of the most extraordinary landscape in South Africa. That is not an accident. That is the Visagie family. And Johan was at the heart of all of it.

The Munga family holds the entire Visagie family close today. Words are not enough for a moment like this. We are so deeply sorry for your loss.

Rest well Johan. Thank you for everything you gave to this community.

It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Gannaga Lodge, which has been such a major part of Johann's and my life for twenty years. The friends that we made here we will never forget. But after Izak's death there is just no way that we can continue to operate the lodge.
