Three years running, the Montagu Art Meander has taught us that a weekend is just long enough to visit every studio in town—and just short enough to still leave you wanting more.

From 6 to 8 November, local artists across Montagu open their studio doors, inviting you to wander through secret gardens, private galleries, and creative spaces filled with vibrant local talent.

The Montagu Art Meander runs from 6 to 8 November. Our artists open their doors, you follow the map and entry costs nothing.

The launch is on Friday at 17:30 at the MAA Arts Space, 24 Bath Street. The venues are open on Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 14:00. The map is available from 1 November at the Arts Space and online.

We have been tidying since September and we would like it noticed.

The rich landscape around Montagu are alive with a vibrant world of wings, offering some of the most rewarding birdwatching in the Western Cape.

Approximately 290 species have been identified in and around Montagu by local birders and specialist.

From peaceful mornings spent spotting local species around the valley to citizen science initiatives like the upcoming Birding Big Day on 5 December 2026, there are countless ways to connect with our local birdlife. We also proudly work alongside the Ouberg reserve for ongoing bird ringing and atlasing projects, supporting the preservation of our natural habitats.

Joseph is part of our DNA.

Our guests adore him…but just a little bit more than his famous omelettes and
intimate dinners.

He brings warmth and energy to the team. He has been part of the team for four years and has a natural ability to connect with guests and make everyone feel welcome.

A proud father of three, Joseph is our breakfast and dinner chef, and all round super star. He ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

His favourite part of the job is interacting with guests and sharing his passion for
cooking.

Joseph dreams of one day opening his own restaurant back in Malawi, where he can
serve traditional Malawian dishes and share a taste of home with others.
