**3️⃣ Lock the Wraps**
Pull firmly on both braid and leader so the braid bites securely into the leader.

**4️⃣ Finish the Knot**
Tie two or three half-hitch knots with the braid around both lines, trim the leader tag close, then add another 4–6 alternating half-hitches.

Pull hard on both ends to ensure the knot grips firmly and slides smoothly through the guides.

SHAD (ELF) CLOSED SEASON REMINDER

🐟 Help Protect Our Shad for Future Generations!

Planning a fishing trip to the Wild Coast? Please remember that Shad (Elf) has a closed season from 1 October to 30 November every year.

🚫 During this period it is illegal to:

Catch shad
Keep or possess shad
Transport shad
Sell shad

The closed season gives adult fish the chance to breed, helping protect shad stocks and ensuring great fishing for years to come.

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) has confirmed that the official closed season is 1 October to 30 November, and this is the period that will be enforced.

Let's all do our part to protect one of South Africa's favourite sport fish.
