We are truly blessed to welcome guests to two unique accommodation establishments in the Eastern Cape โ Stone Haven in the charming Karoo village of Nieu-Bethesda and Nukakamma Guest House in the peaceful riverside village of Colchester, in the heart of the Sundays River Valley.
Although each destination has its own personality and charm, both offer wonderful experiences for solo travellers, couples and families looking to explore, unwind and create unforgettable memories.
๐ก Stone Haven โ Nieu-Bethesda
Where Karoo charm meets quirky character.
Stone Haven offers two unique self-catering accommodation options: a two-bedroom family home sleeping up to four guests and our cosy one-bedroom **โHobbit Cottageโ**, ideal for two guests.
Our Hobbit Cottage, with her wonky and narrow doorframes, little nooks and crannies, and cosy spaces, is certainly not your typical modern accommodation. All these little quirks are part of her character and form part of the unique experience we love about her!
That said, if you are particularly tall, a little more generously built, or simply prefer wide-open spaces and plenty of room to move around, we would recommend our larger two-bedroom home next door. It offers more space and headroom while retaining some of the original, quirky charm that makes our properties so special.
Both units offer self-catering facilities, free Wi-Fi and essential amenities provided on arrival.
There is plenty to explore right on our doorstep!
Nieu-Bethesda is home to the fascinating Owl House, the Kitching Fossil Exploration Centre, a gorgeous bookshop directly opposite our establishment, several restaurants, and beautiful hiking trails. Our central location makes it easy to explore this unique village and experience its artistic heritage, fascinating history and peaceful Karoo atmosphere.

๐ Nukakamma Guest House โ Colchester
Your gateway to Addo, river adventures and unforgettable wildlife experiences.
Situated in the tranquil village of Colchester, Nukakamma Guest House is just a five-minute drive from the southern entrance to Addo Elephant National Park, making it an ideal base for exploring one of South Africaโs most renowned wildlife destinations.
We offer three comfortable Bed & Breakfast rooms, as well as a two-bedroom self-catering cottage โ perfect for couples, families and travellers seeking a relaxing stay close to nature.
Our accommodation includes free Wi-Fi, OpenView TV and essential amenities provided on arrival. Guests staying in our self-catering cottage can also enjoy breakfast at our main guest house, available by prior arrangement at an additional cost.
