Our Story
Riverholm Country Estate is situated on the beautiful Spring Grove Dam in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands and boasts some of the most spectacular views and wildlife in the area. The dam is well known for excellent fishing, boasting 6 different species including trout and bass. The dam is not open to the public and offers Riverholm guests a private fishing experience second to none.
Riverholm Country Estate, although still a working farm, is now largely a lifestyle retreat, offering guests a taste of country life and all the magic of the Midlands. From the luxury of the country style accommodation to the luscious surrounds, Riverholm is an experience for the senses. Guests are able to enjoy scenic trails, biking, fishing, bird watching and canoeing.
The original farm was one of the most respected stud farms in the country, with strong bloodlines competing in racing arenas to this day. Complete with American style barns and home to the country’s most esteemed thoroughbreds, the original farm was later sold and re-named Riverholm Stud. The farm gained international recognition when the Disney family movie “Racing Stripes” was filmed on location.
