A very special visit from Mayor Chris Pappas and the UMngeni Local Municipality team.

It was such an honour to welcome you to Indigo Fields Farmhouse and Spa yesterday and to have the opportunity to share a little of what makes Indigo in the beautiful Midlands so special.

Thank you for your kind words and for recognising the passion, people and local community that are at the heart of Indigo Fields. We are incredibly proud to support local artisans, employ members of our community, showcase locally produced products and contribute, in our own small way, to the wonderful tourism offering of the uMngeni region.

It is with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of Chef Richard Poynton on 28 July 2026.

Richard was an extraordinary chef, gracious host and a passionate ambassador for South African hospitality.

His dedication to excellence, genuine hospitality and unwavering commitment to creating moments of joy around the table left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will continue to inspire chefs, hoteliers and food lovers for generations to come.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Mouse, the Poynton family and the entire Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse team during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest peacefully Richard.

Thank you for the memories, the inspiration and the remarkable legacy you leave behind. You will be deeply missed. 🕊️

A huge thank you to Marcus for setting up a trail camera near our spa bomas and capturing some of the incredible nocturnal wildlife that calls Indigo home.

It's a beautiful reminder that while we sleep, nature comes alive. 🦉🌿

Some of our regular night-time visitors include:
🐗 Bushpig
🦔 Cape Porcupine
🐇 Scrub Hare
🦊 Small-spotted Genet
🐆 Serval
🐈Occasionally, the elusive Caracal

Listen closely after dark and you may also hear the haunting calls of the Spotted Eagle-Owl and the Fiery-necked Nightjar, adding to the magic of an evening in the Midlands.

And every so often, nature reminds us just how wild this landscape truly is. A Cape Leopard was famously captured on a nearby camera trap between Brookdale Health Hydro and Rawdons Hotel, highlighting the remarkable biodiversity of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands corridor.

At Indigo Fields, every day brings tranquillity... and every night holds the promise of something extraordinary. 🌙💚

What an inspiring Spa Team Build today at Indigo Fields!

Today was all about dreaming big, setting intentions and celebrating the incredible women who make our spa so special.

Our amazing team created their own Dream Boards, beautifully facilitated by Arlene Welsh.

It was a morning filled with creativity, inspiration, laughter and meaningful conversations as each person visualised their goals and dreams for the future.

From ashes to a new beginning...

After the devastating fire a year ago, we learnt one of life's greatest lessons – resilience.

Through challenges came hope and through hope came the opportunity to create something truly special.

The beautiful new 8-sleeper cottage nestled amongst the trees at Indigo Fields Farmhouse & Spa.

Designed as a warm and welcoming retreat, The Snuggery Cottage offers spacious living areas, elegant bedrooms, tranquil garden spaces and all the comforts needed for unforgettable gatherings with family and friends.

This beautiful cottage stands as a reminder that even after difficult seasons, new chapters can be written and dreams can be rebuilt.

We are incredibly grateful for the support, encouragement and kindness shown to us throughout this journey.

A very special thank you to Paul and Jennifer Hindle for their vision, dedication and tireless assistance in bringing this incredible project to life.

A year has passed since the Snuggery cottage fire. As we reflect on that day, our hearts are filled with gratitude.

What could have been a story of loss became a powerful lesson in resilience, strength and the kindness of so many people who stood by us.

Through the challenges came renewed appreciation for life, for our community, our staff and for the simple blessings we often take for granted.

We remain deeply thankful to everyone who helped, supported, encouraged and walked this journey with us. Your compassion carried us through.

The Snuggery fire taught us that even in the darkest moments, hope shines brightly.
