Iketla Lodge nestles in the middle of a 540 hectare private nature conservancy on the Panorama Route, approximately 30 minutes drive from the famous Blyde River Canyon. The unspoilt African bush and indigenous forests are a haven for more than 200 different bird species and numerous migratory species of wildlife.

Despite the recent heavy rains across Limpopo, we’re happy to confirm that Iketla Lodge is open and fully operational. Our roads, facilities, and activities are all accessible, and we’re ready to welcome guests as usual.
We also extend our heartfelt thoughts to all the guests, communities, and businesses that have been affected by the recent rains. 🌧️🤍

URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED – PANTHERA AFRICA

Fair Trade Tourism is calling on our community to support Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary, following a devastating wildfire that has destroyed large parts of the sanctuary in Stanford, Western Cape.

While most animals were spared critical injury, the damage to infrastructure is severe. The team is currently focused on emergency animal care, veterinary treatment, relocating animals where necessary, securing food and essential equipment, and covering major emergency response costs, including aerial firefighting.

The most effective way to help right now is through donations via Panthera Africa’s BackaBuddy campaign or their official online channels. Every contribution—large or small—goes directly to animal welfare, emergency operations, and recovery.

Supporters can also help by starting their own BackaBuddy fundraising campaign for Panthera Africa and sharing it within their networks to amplify reach and impact.

Fair Trade Tourism stands in solidarity with Panthera Africa and the dedicated team working under extremely difficult conditions to protect vulnerable wildlife.

Many guests may think it’s polite to invite their guides to dinner after a long day of game drives and activities. And while it is entirely their human right to say no, the pressure of keeping the client happy can prevent some from doing so, with other priorities getting neglected.

In situations like this, it is up to tourism businesses to educate guests or set clear itineraries. Where guides are expected to join guests, this needs to be included in their “work day”.

Today might be “Singles’ Day” — but at Iketla, we’re all about family! 💚
