Baron's Palace was built by an Ostrich Baron in 1872 has retained it’s air of elegance featuring high ceilings, sash windows, ornate fireplaces and spacious suites which open onto a large private terrace. A contrast to the Palace is bright and sunny rooms located around the swimming pool with French doors leading to a private and secure inner court. All rooms both in the Baron’s Palace and the low

er deck are equipped to the highest standards for your convenience. There are 27 double & Twin rooms, 2 family rooms and a honeymoon suite, which are equipped with bath/shower, television, tea and coffee, , heater, air conditioner, hair dryer and bathroom amenities. FACILITIES

• The Old Barn, which has been renovated are equipped as a great Bar, a conference room as well as a venue for weddings and other special occasions.

Oudtshoorn is known as the Ostrich Capital of the World — and for good reason.

During the ostrich-feather booms of 1865–1870 and 1900–1914, ostrich feathers became so valuable in Europe that the best quality feathers commanded prices over 200 rand per kilogram in 1884.

Local farmers grew so wealthy from the trade that they built extravagant sandstone mansions known as "ostrich palaces" — many of which still stand around town today.
