LET’S STAND TOGETHER FOR THE SMITSWINKEL STAFF

The devastating fire at Smitswinkel did not only destroy a building — it suddenly took away the workplace and income of the loyal staff members who helped make Smitswinkel what it was.
While we begin the difficult journey of rebuilding, our staff now have to rely solely on UIF.

That is why the incredible teams at Klein Karoo Superspar and Oudtshoorn Spar have started a Pay It Forward initiative to help support them during this uncertain time.
You can contribute R50, R100, R200 or any amount at the till points. Every contribution will be converted into grocery vouchers and distributed directly to the Smitswinkel staff.

To all our loyal customers, followers, friends and the incredible staff of Smitswinkel,
It is difficult to find the right words for what has happened.

Smitswinkel was never just a restaurant or a building to us. It was years of hard work, memories, laughter, celebrations, friendships and people coming together.
It was a place that felt like home, not only to us, but to so many of you as well.

Seeing it gone has broken our hearts.

But through all the pain, the messages, phone calls, prayers and support we have received have reminded us how special the Smitswinkel community truly is. We cannot thank every one of you enough.

To our staff, thank you for standing with us. Thank you for the long hours, the loyalty and everything you gave to make Smitswinkel what it was. You are not just staff. You are part of the Smitswinkel family.

This is a very hard chapter, but it is not the final chapter.

We may have lost the building, but we have not lost the heart of Smitswinkel.

We will rebuild. We will come back stronger. We will create something beautiful again, while keeping the same warmth, character and memories that made Smitswinkel so loved.

This is not goodbye.

Smitswinkel will be back.
