Bantamsklip set to dodge nuclear plant?

Communities opposing a proposed nuclear power plant at Bantamsklip near Pearly Beach may soon breathe easier. Engineering consultants WSP have submitted the Final Environmental Scoping Report, leaving the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment 44 days to choose between Bantamsklip and Thyspunt for the next EIA phase. If the recommendations are accepted, Bantamsklip could be dropped, ending months of uncertainty.

Residents and groups cite dark-sky concerns, heritage sensitivity and possible impacts on tourism and marine life across the Overstrand.
