Our resident owner is an architect by trade, and here's his beautiful drawing of the home he knows best, right down to the long front veranda where our guests love to sit.

Johan is a third-generation van Rensburg, born in this very house, which was built around 1900.

Few people know a building as well as the one who grew up in it.

Happy Garden Day from Afrika Pearl! 🌿

Our garden is the quiet star of the show. It’s in full bloom, it holds our pool, and it has a way of slowing everyone down. Guests come out for ‘just a quick look’ and disappear for a few hours with a book, a cold drink, and not a single regret.

Some gardens are nice to look at. Our one is made for lingering: morning coffee among the blooms, an afternoon dip, a long stoep-sit as the light goes golden.

It's Tourism Month, which felt like the right time to admit something: the BEST GUIDE to Paarl isn't an app, a pamphlet, or a Google review!

It's Johan.

He knows the botanical gardens with the lily ponds tucked into the mountains that most visitors never find. He knows the dirt roads on Bainskloof Pass worth taking the slow way. And yes, he's the architect who designed the house where Madiba spent his final 14 months before walking free.
