Cape Bulbul (Pycnonotus capensis)
Afrikaans: Kaapse Tiptol

The Cape Bulbul is endemic to Southern Africa, meaning it isn't found outside of the region. Specifically, it is an endemic resident in fynbos, coastal scrub, and gardens. These adorable yellow-bottomed birds are seen year-round at Nuwerus!

If you are a birding enthusiast, Nuwerus is a great place to stay. Throughout the year we have over 40 (and counting) species resident or visiting the property.
Nuwerus is also central to some amazing birding hotspots such as the Paarl Mountain Reserve and Paarl Bird Sanctuary.

Malachite Sunbird (Nectarina famosa)
Afrikaans: Jangroentjie

This vibrant sunbird is a common resident here at Nuwerus and can be seen almost throughout the year on the premises. They are found in fynbos areas and are very fond of aloes. We have many aloes here, so you don't have to search long to find one feeding on nectar from the flowers.

If you are a birding enthusiast, Nuwerus is a great place to stay. Throughout the year we have over 40 (and counting) species resident or visiting the property.
