The story of Parys began in 1876 beside the Vaal River and grew into the lively, artistic, and welcoming town we know today. Inspired by Paris in France, the name Parys reflects a cultural history that still influences the town’s identity.

During the Sesquicentennial in 2026 the community will celebrate this heritage through the French Connection theme. Expect red, white, and blue decorations, themed days, creative displays, and opportunities for residents and businesses to participate in a visual celebration of identity and pride.

Help us honour the stories, memories, and traditions that shaped Parys over the past 150 years.
