Gamtoos B&B is ideally located for day trips, being within one hour's drive of Port Elizabeth and less to Jeffrey's Bay, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis and Port St Francis.
Plettenberg Bay, the Garden Route, Tsitsikamma, the Langkloof and Addo are all within two hour’s drive.
Oudtshoorn, George and Knysna are only three hours away. Willowmore, via the Baviaanskloof, takes between five and six hours depending on how often one stops.

To name but a few attractions in the area: , the first double arched dam built in South Africa; a natural enon conglomerate formation called profile; a tree with a very interesting story as to how it found its place in Patensie; and the natural “eye” in the mountain, called , a popular mountaineering experience located just outside Hankey above the historical which has a rich history regarding irrigation in the valley. For those interested in history there is an Relics Museum at Mount Ingwe in the Elandsriver.
