Quatermain's 1920's Safari Camp - Amakhala Game Reserve

Our guides conducted a wildlife rescue the other day when they found this tiny Leopard Tortoise youngster next to the public road. Seeing that this vulnerable little baby was very likely to be driven over very soon, they scooped him up and brought him back to camp where he can live a natural life on the reserve, free from the horrors of motor vehicles. ❤️🐢

"Our stay at Quatermain's was one of the highlights of our three-week trip through South Africa. Julie was incredibly accommodating and made every request feel easy. Jess and Kyle were excellent game-drive guides—engaging, attentive and clearly passionate about what they do. Nick's warm hospitality made us feel completely at home, while Riaan's incredible knowledge brought every part of the walking safari to life. The camp's thoughtful comforts were equally memorable. The hot-water bottles were absolutely perfect on the cold African nights and mornings, and the lovely wood-fired hot tub was a wonderful place to relax after a day in the reserve. What stood out most was the team's attention to detail and genuine kindness. They even managed to arrange a vegan birthday cake for my companion at very short notice, making her celebration especially memorable. The experiences were wonderful, but it was the people and their thoughtfulness that made our stay exceptional. We left with terrific memories and would wholeheartedly recommend Quatermain's to anyone looking for a personal and unforgettable safari experience. Lastly, the cave experience was truly special."

Some of our guests are so very talented! Bruce Robinson, who is coming back for his 3rd stay with us next year, along with his lovely wife Sue, sent us this stunning painting that he has very recently finished. We think that it depicts camp life perfectly 😍

These cheetah cubs have grown up so quickly and given our guests such wonderful sightings. Trails guide intern, Leon Jansen van Rensburg, took this footage as the family spent some time relaxing this morning.
