Blessed for 5 Years 🤍

This July, our business turns 5! We have been blessed beyond what we ever thought possible.

My name is Sanmarie, and I started Salted Fynbos Staying as a side hustle during the winter lockdown of 2021. At the time, I was working in the wine industry, and because we weren't allowed to sell wine during lockdown, I suddenly had some extra time on my hands.

For exactly one year, I ran my side hustle alongside my full-time job. The following winter, our baby boy was born, and after that, I decided to leave my job to focus fully on my family and the business.

Not long afterwards, we started training and building our own cleaning teams so we could better manage the standard of our cleaning services. Then along came our baby girl. Last July, we opened our own laundromat, serving both our holiday homes and the public.

Winter is usually a little quieter for our homes, giving us time to dream, plan, and work on our next venture.

Since 2021, we've grown to managing more than 40 handpicked holiday homes in the Gansbaai and Pearly Beach area.

Looking back over the past five years, I can't help but feel overwhelmed by all the blessings we've experienced in every area of the business. From our incredible team working behind the scenes to our loyal guests who keep coming back and brighten our days with their kind feedback after every stay—I am truly thankful and content.

I'm so grateful for this journey, and even more excited for what the future holds.

But winter is my favourite season on the coast. Crackling fires, wild seas, quiet beaches, and absolutely no fighting for parking.

Our cleaning team swapped mops for manuals (and a few laughs in between) as we spent the day sharpening skills, refining standards, and making sure every little detail gets the attention it deserves.

Behind every sparkling stay is a proper team effort — and we’re lucky to have a crew that takes real pride in what they do. From deep cleans to the small finishing touches most people don’t even notice… we notice 😉
