The best seat in the house.
Under our big Marula tree, with the birds overhead and the bushveld all around you.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner — in every season, it’s a beautiful place to sit, slow down and enjoy the moment.

A coalition of four male lions — quite a sight.

Male lions often form coalitions, but seeing four together is pretty special. That’s a lot of testosterone in one place!

Spotted earlier this month between Tsendze and Letaba Rest Camp.

The Women Behind Your Stay | Meet Conny

Restaurant Supervisor

Conny joined Bushveld Terrace in 2023 as part of our Reception team. Today, she’s one of the supervisors helping lead our restaurant floor.

For Conny, great hospitality is about noticing the little things. The sun in your eyes. The evening getting chilly and bringing a blanket before you need to ask. Remembering a returning guest and the little details from their last visit.

It’s this genuine attentiveness that makes Conny so good at what she does. She wants every guest to feel comfortable, looked after and at home while they’re with us.

She also loves introducing international guests to a little taste of South Africa. Ask her what biltong is and she’ll happily explain it—and probably encourage you to try some. When it comes to our menu, her recommendation is the Springbok Carpaccio. Something uniquely South African and, according to Conny, the perfect way to start your meal.

Something guests might not know about Conny…

She’s a runner! At the end of August, Conny will be taking on the 21 km Tzaneen Spring Open. We’ll all be cheering her on.

Today’s Sighting | 5 km from Phalaborwa Gate

On Women’s Day weekend, this little spotted hyena reminds us that there’s no place quite like Mom. Warm, safe and the best seat in the bush. 🤎

A guest favourite for years.

Our lamb shank has earned its place on the menu. Slow-cooked until tender, it’s especially satisfying on a cool winter evening.

Served with creamy mashed potato and seasonal vegetables, it’s the kind of meal that warms you from the inside out

This Bateleur had clearly enjoyed a successful hunt. While nature isn’t always gentle, moments like these offer a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of the Kruger’s most charismatic raptors.

It’s not a sighting we see every day – and certainly not one we’ll forget in a hurry.
