As you probably know, on Wednesday the 6th of May 2026 The Garden Route was hit by a massive low pressure weather system which resulted in one of the biggest storms🌪️ever seen in the region.

The Whaling Station suffered major damage when a +100 year old Blue Gum tree🌳 fell onto the roof and verandah of our Garden suites...

That tree was a beautiful feature on the property and will be missed. Thankfully no one was inside at the time and besides extensive damage no one was hurt during the storm. 🙏

We are temporarily closed while we rebuild but trust us, we will be back better than ever 😉✨

The calm before the storm... We are expecting a big two day storm tomorrow and Thursday, bringing intense rain, wind, cold temperatures and high seas. Schools are closed, flood warnings have been issued and people have been advised to stay indoors.

Don't worry, our guests at The Whaling Station will be cosy and warm! Stay safe everyone!
