Experience the sight of the elusive and beautiful Nyala bull just before dusk, a graceful Kudu crossing the road, the elegant giraffe peeping at you through the thorn trees and the thrill of spotting herds of robust black Cape Buffalo. Over 20 hunt able species call Harloo Reserve home, from the petite little Red Duiker to the huge but nimble 7000 pound White Rhino. The Pongola Game Reserve borders to the east and comprises of Jozini Lake - third biggest lake in South Africa with the beautiful blue Lebombo Mountain range forming the backdrop. A gentle boat cruise usually rewards you with a spectacular African sunset over the water. Hippo, Fish Eagle and croc sightings are common. Tiger fishing, Game- and bird viewing from the boat is a fantastic experience and a must! Mpunzi Lodge which means “Grey Duiker” in Zulu or our luxury Safari Style tented camp is where you will be accommodated, with true South African hospitality. The lodge and boma offers atmosphere in abundance. It is cozily enclosed by bush and carefully built amongst shady indigenous trees. Evenings in the boma area is spent reliving our daily adventures around a crackling bushveld fire - under the big African sky with its thousands of stars. Adjoining is an airconditioned lounge / dining area where traditional African dishes are served. A pool nestled amongst rocks provides soothing relief after a day in the warm African sun. Cross a footbridge over a stream to reach your comfortable suites, connected with little trails through the undergrowth and tucked in the bush for the ultimate in privacy. The Suites are top notch! They are spacious, luxurious and air-conditioned with a balcony. Buffalo has a lounge an adjacent en suite room with 2 beds for juveniles. The luxury Safari Style tented camp with modern en suite amenities, aircons and 3 x 2 bed 500sq ft tents is very special. A cozy feeling, timber trails and jungle comes to mind here! African Safaris lasting 7 to 15 hunting days should see you return with a good bag of trophies. A good measure to work on is one trophy per day.
