On sunny days take a 5 minute drive to Sardinia Bay beach and in the late afternoon, enjoy a sundowner on the dunes and watch the breathtaking sunset. Or try horse riding offered by our local stables. Maybe just sit outside in the secluded garden whilst listening to the birds. You may even see the shy Knysna Loerie, or hear the wonderful and haunting cry of the Fish Eagle circling overhead.
For those who are IronMan athletes or supporters, take full advantage of us being on the cycling leg of the race as we are on the direct route. What better way to get into practice for this prestigious race. Plus you can enjoy the street spirit of the area on this day. We even have two well decorated Ironman athletes who live in Sardinia Bay.
Fancy a round of golf? Be in touch with nature at the Sardinia Bay Golf and Wildlife estate and finish the round at their restaurant.
Feeling peckish? Our local resident owns and runs The Cash store on Sardinia Bay Road, or there is The GrassRoof Restaurant that is a cyclists mecca as it's on the IronMan route, or try the legendary scones at The Apron Strings Tea Garden also run by a local resident. On the same road is The Boma, a unique restaurant that offers reptile viewing. All of these can be reached on foot or bicycle, weather permitting.
For birdwatchers, there are many indigenous species in the area. The Knysna Loerie, Fish Eagle, Cape Robin, sunbirds, owls, Guinea Fowl, Redfaced Mousebirds, Hoepoe, Cardinal Woodpeckers to name a few.
If you feel like a scenic walk, take the Sacremento trail. It runs along the coast and offers both the beginner and more advanced trail walkers a wonderful experience. You may even be lucky enough to see some whales. The Sacremento Restaurant can quench your thirst or stop a rumbling stomach afterwards.
On sunny days the activities seem endless - from going to the beach, walking trails, golf, horse riding, cycling, running. Or take a drive to one of the shopping centres, Baywest shopping Centre for ice-skating and a movie afterwards or the more local upmarket Walmer Park offering over 140 stores.
Tranquility Self Catering Accommodation is in the bush, but just 10 minutes from shops or 20 minutes from the airport or nearest hospital.
