The dogs are back! Hansie is not leaving Biscuit ever again. I discovered Topsie at Tops on Friday (skin and bone and definitely in need of a home) brought her home. For the love and food and a soft bed she immediately thanked us by getting on heat and yesterday went off searching for a boyfriend. Hansie decided to go with. It would be fun, she said.
Well.
He slept very close to me last night… I don’t think it was such a fun day for him as it was for Topsie and her boyfriend.
Next step (in giving a stray a home) - get the little tart sorted! Oy vey… here come vet bills etc etc!🐈‍⬛

Hansie and Topsie have vanished early this morning from Yellow House. We are worried that they might have been stolen. Please keep an eye open for them, please?

Excellent service from Rick at . He literally went the extra mile by driving from Mossel Bay to Prince Albert AFTER WORK to deliver two beds that our guests can have a comfy sleep tonight. We are very grateful and super-impressed. Thank you!

What a special morning we had at , celebrating the coming of Bronwen’s little boy! Madré and her team went all-out and we had fabulous chocolate cake and the creamiest quiches. Happiness is living in .

Busy week! We had a really great year-end party with all our peops at and how they spoilt us! So grateful for so much. Four years ago everyone fitted into our bus. This year we needed three vehicles to get everyone to the party.
During the week there was a spot of apricot jam cooking and of course not one, but TWO new menus saw the light:
Our new summer menu and an exciting salad addition to lunch!

This man….

If it has spokes, tubes, chains, and pedals, this is your man. Botha is synonymous with all things bicycle related in Prince Albert and has been cycling since 1987, his first organised tour set off in 1992 and still going strong over thirty years later.
Visit him at his shop for bike parts/repairs and a chat, and learn more about the incredible work he is doing to get the Prince Albert youngsters passionate about pedalling with his ‘good school marks, great cycling’ incentive programme.

A wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

This pic my phone tonight ….. Willem Freysen was our first Prince Albert neighbour to visit us. He was jovial, outspoken. He would visit on a Monday morning when we had a million things to do. He would bring his tractor and lend a hand. He was always ready with advice, with tools, with anything we needed, us being really new and green to this Karoo place.
But what I remember most is the basket of padkos he packed for us on a trip to Cape Town. There were eggs, soft or hard-boiled. Sandwiches. Sausage. Frikadelle. He confessed that he had eaten the baked lamb neck the night before. A Tupperware container for milk… that one that you push down to seal it. Coffee. Brown and white sugar.
I made the guys stop just outside Laingsburg to have this breakfast. There was no ways I could contain myself anymore.
I drive or cycle or walk past your farm’s entrance every day, Willem. I hope they are treating you well in heaven. At least you don’t have to rush over to fix something we had broken over here anymore. And that padkos stop next to the road will always have your name on it.
