🌿✨ Sometimes the slower, scenic route is exactly what the soul needs… ✨🌿

Guests travelling to Prince Albert are kindly asked to take note that both the Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort have been temporarily closed following the recent heavy storms and rainfall in the region. We would like to share two alternative travel routes for guests making their way to Mirtehof coming from the Garden Route.

📍 Route Option 1:
George → Oudtshoorn → Ladismith → Laingsburg (via Anysberg) → Prince Albert

📍 Route Option 2:
George → Uniondale → Willowmore → Aberdeen → Beaufort West → Prince Albert (via N12)

The good news is that the N1 has reopened to traffic coming from Cape Town, and Prince Albert is still very much worth the journey. 💛

Pack your bags, take a deep breath, and escape to the peace and beauty of the Karoo. Crisp winter mornings, cosy evenings, beautiful gardens and star-filled skies are waiting for you at Mirtehof.

🌧️✨ Prince Albert has experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall over the past few days - transforming the usually gentle Dorpsrivier into a powerful flowing river. 💧

For those who know our little Karoo town, seeing the river in full flow like this is something truly rare and remarkable. Meanwhile, the gardens at Mirtehof are soaking up every precious drop of rain. 🌿💚

Due to the severe weather conditions, both the Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort have been closed until further notice.

A dramatic and beautiful reminder of the power of nature in the Karoo.
