*Public Appeal – Please Read & Share*

We are asking everyone along the South African coastline to please report any drums or containers found on beaches or in the coastal zone.

If you come across one, please:
*Take clear photos
*Try to capture logos, writing, markings, or serial numbers
*Note the location and date if possible
*Is drum empty, full, leaking?

The item should still be reported to and handled by the relevant authorities for safe disposal.

However, we are also requesting that the information and photos be shared here so that data can be collected in one centralised, non-affiliated space.

There is growing concern that parts of our coastline may be being used as a dumping ground for used marine oil, and accurate, well-documented public reports are essential to identify patterns and support further investigation.

Your help can make a real difference. Thank you for your awareness and cooperation.

πŸ“œ Did You Know? Half of the Eastern Cape's people are descendants of refugees who fled challenges in what is now KwaZulu-Natal during the 18th and 19th centuries. These migrations were more than survival. They were the reshaping of identity and resilience.

🌍 Who were they?

1. AmaHlubi: Displaced during the Mfecane, they settled in the Eastern Cape seeking refuge.

2. AmaBhaca: United under Madzikane ka Khalimeshe, they journeyed from the Pongola region to find new beginnings.

3. AmaBomvana: Close kin to the Xhosa, they settled along the Wild Coast, blending cultures over time.

4. AbaThembu: Indigenous to the Eastern Cape, they absorbed many displaced clans and built strong leadership.

5. AmaMfengu: Known for embracing Christianity and education, they were welcomed by King Hintsa after fleeing turmoil.

πŸ’¬ Legacy These movements gave rise to new cultural identities, forged powerful alliances, and helped shape the rich tapestry of Eastern Cape society. Today, their legacy lives on in language, traditions, and pride.

πŸ’› URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED πŸ’›

On 26 March, one of the little ones from our registered NPO (PBO) creche in rural Transkei, "Step by Step Day Care Centre," broke his femur while playing.

He’s just 3,5 years old, and is now bedridden in traction for 4 weeks at Frere Hospital. His mom rushed with him to East London, with nothing but the clothes on her back. She’s been at his bedside since and will stay there for the next 4 weeks.

We’re rallying to support this brave little boy and his mother with essentials during this time, and also assist their creche community, including our cook, who was also just admitted to Frere and diagnosed with cancer this week.
