A bit of La Casa Blanca History:
Built in 1968 for Marius Jooste, then CEO of Perskor, the house occupies a secluded cul-de-sac at the very end of the ridge - a position chosen as much for its privacy as for its sweeping views. This photograph, taken around 1983, captures the home in its early years along with the still-open surrounds of the Emmarentia Ridge.
We came across these images tucked away in a collection of ageing files and folders left behind at the property. Quiet remnants of the home’s earlier chapter, rediscovered as we began its renovation.
Note the striking Abstract Bird sculpture in the garden by Edoardo Villa.
Installed around 1969, it remained a feature of the grounds for decades before being sold at auction in May 2024 for an astounding amount.
A lot has changed since then!
