Well, what a chaotic period we have been through. Gale force winds of over 100kph blowing trees over and taking roofs off buildings. Then came the floods from the 200+ mm of rain up in the mountains. This latest body of water has beaten the 100 year high recorded in 2024, by some margin. Properties along the Breede River have been flooded, destroyed and some washed away never to be seen again. Bridges have also been washed away isolating towns, villages and farms. Crazy how Mother Nature can show you who is boss and then, just as quickly, give you perfect weather, like nothing ever happened, just devastation as a reminder. Long roads of recovery for some of our famous wineries. Everyone pulling together to help those in need, great to see and be a part of. We will all recover, it will just take bit of time.

Wow, what a heatwave we’ve had this week, up into the 40’s. At least we expecting some cooler weather from tomorrow going forward. One of my favorite times of the year, autumn in Robertson is hard to beat. Lots of weddings coming up, The Cape Epic starts in Montague on Sunday. Good luck to all the riders, vasbyt everyone.

Fossil Hills is based in Mc Gregor which is just on 30km from Petal’s Place Guesthouse. What s great idea for weekend getaway but you need to act fast. They have a one day wine walk coming up on the 13th of September and have availability for 16 people.
The walk starts at 7:45 and ends at around 13:00.

Included in the walk is a breakfast snack and a wine and ice cream paring with platter lunch.

R750 per person
R250 per child under the age of 12
