🦌 New Residents at Doorndraai Lodge and Caravan Park - Limpopo

We've welcomed some beautiful new residents to the Doorndraai family! Watching these magnificent animals settle into their new home is a special sight and another reminder of the beauty of the African bush.

Come and experience the magic of nature and meet our newest residents.



The gemsbok (Gemsbok) is a large antelope native to the arid regions of southern Africa. It is famous for its striking black-and-white facial markings, grey-tan coat, and long, straight horns. Both males and females have horns, though females' horns are often longer and slimmer.

Some interesting facts:
They can survive for long periods with very little water by getting moisture from plants.

They are well adapted to hot desert and savanna environments.

Adults can weigh between 180–240 kg.

Their sharp horns are used to defend themselves against predators such as lions.
