Pearly Shells Comfortable spacious and fully equipped self-catering holiday apartments. Self-catering holiday apartments each with superb views of the sea and lagoon.

Ideally situated within walking distance to safe bathing, tidal pool, super tube and mini golf courses as well as being close to shopping centres and restaurants. There are 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments at Pearly Shells as well as 4 (four) spacious penthouses on the top floor with the most spectacular views. Our self-catering apartments at Pearly Shells are fully equipped with a fridge, microwave and stove. On the property there is a swimming pool, braai area and leisure room with table tennis, pool table, games and large screen TV for popular sport events, where evenings can be happily occupied with family and friends. Four excellent golf courses, bowling greens, squash courts, scuba diving and rock fishing are all close by. T C Robertson Nature Reserve is only 200m from our doorstep and Pearly Shells is in close proximity to scenic drives and places of interest all along our beautiful South Coast.

A beautiful, sunny and warm start to Thursday here at Pearly Shells! 💙 It's around 22°C this morning, with plenty of sunshine expected and temperatures climbing to a lovely 28°C during the day. ☀️🌴

We're expecting a breezy morning along the South Coast, with winds generally from the north to north-east before turning southerly later, reaching approximately 15–25 km/h. 💨 With very little chance of rain, it's shaping up to be another gorgeous day along our beautiful coastline!

🐦 DID YOU KNOW? 🌿

Have you ever wondered what Mpambanyoni, the river flowing into the sea at Scottburgh, actually means?

The Zulu name has been recorded as meaning “where birds gather” — but also, rather wonderfully, “the confuser of birds.” 🐦😲

The traditional explanation is that the river's winding course, thick vegetation and abundance of birds made it seem almost impossible for each bird to find its way back to the right place.

And the name still suits the area beautifully today — the river and neighbouring TC Robertson Nature Reserve remain home to abundant birdlife, along with duiker, monkeys and other wildlife. 🌿

So next time you look across the Scottburgh lagoon, remember: you're looking at the “river where the birds gather.” 💙

A warm and cloudy start to Wednesday here at Pearly Shells! 💙 It's around 21°C this morning, with temperatures expected to climb to a pleasant 26–27°C throughout the day. Expect plenty of cloud cover, with a few brighter spells along our beautiful coastline. 🌤️🌴

We're expecting a breezy day along the South Coast, with north-easterly winds reaching approximately 15–22 km/h during the afternoon. 💨 Although the local forecast shows a fairly low chance of rain, thunderstorms remain a possibility across parts of KwaZulu-Natal. ⛈️

🦈 DID YOU KNOW?

Every winter, ragged-tooth sharks gather at Aliwal Shoal, just offshore from our beautiful KZN South Coast — and they're there for a very important reason! 🌊

Aliwal Shoal forms part of their annual reproductive migration and is an important mating and resting ground for these incredible sharks.

Despite their intimidating rows of jagged teeth, “raggies” are one of the major attractions that have made Aliwal Shoal famous with divers from around the world. 🤿🦈

Even more amazing? Aliwal Shoal itself is an ancient fossilised sand-dune system, now covered in corals, sponges and marine life.

So beneath the waves just offshore from Scottburgh and Umkomaas lies an ancient landscape that becomes a seasonal meeting place for one of South Africa's most impressive sharks! 💙🌊

A fairly gentle breeze along the South Coast today, with winds starting from the south-southwest before turning easterly, reaching approximately 10–20 km/h during the day. 💨 Rain chances are low, making it a lovely day to enjoy our beautiful coastline!

There's something truly special about mornings on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. 💛

As the first golden rays of sunshine stretch across the Indian Ocean, the early birds are already out enjoying what Scottburgh does best — a little fishing, a little surfing, and a whole lot of natural beauty. 🎣🏄‍♂️

Sometimes, it's the simplest moments that remind us just how fortunate we are to have this beautiful coastline right on our doorstep.
