Did you know that there were once as many as 200,000 oxwagons travelling across South Africa? 🇿🇦🌾

We are taking a closer look at the "Conradie wagon," named after the uncle we received it from. At the absolute peak of the oxwagon era, thousands of these incredible structures lined the roads, until they were eventually forbidden in the 1950s for being too slow compared to modern vehicles.

But the real treasure is hidden in the details. Take a look at this original license token still attached to the wood—stamped 1937 for the Pearston area and district! It’s incredible to think about the history these wheels have seen.

We've taken off the back wheel of one of our wagons to reveal a piece of living history. Stamped onto the axle is the name "John Bradley & Co," crafted all the way back in 1853. That means this historic wagon is nearly 170 years old! Originally from a neighboring farm, it stands today as a beautiful reminder of our deep South African heritage.

Life is Better in the Rain! 🌧️

After three days of beautiful, soft rain, the farm is truly coming to life! 🌱 We’ve had about 40mm, and while the coast is seeing some heavy weather, we are soaking up every drop here in Witmos.

The river is flowing beautifully, the veld is turning a vibrant green, and the air just feels different. There’s nothing quite like the sound of a running stream to soothe the soul. 🏞️✨
