SOUTHBROOM BEACHES FLY THE GREEN FLAG
Yesterday was a very special day for the Southbroom Conservancy as we proudly received our WESSA Green Flag award at the WESSA awards ceremony.
We feel incredibly excited, honoured and proud to be part of this initiative, and we are more committed than ever to raising the Green Flag high on all our Southbroom beaches!
Southbroom is blessed with beautiful, pristine beaches, a magnificent coastline and a rich natural environment that extends far beyond the sand and sea. Our beaches are part of a living ecosystem, connected to our rocky shores, coastal dunes, indigenous coastal forests, estuaries and the incredible marine life that calls this stretch of coastline home.
Keeping our beaches pristine means protecting this entire natural environment.
The WESSA Green Coast and Green Flag initiatives recognise the importance of caring for our coastline through environmental management, conservation, education and community involvement. They encourage us to look beyond the beach itself, understanding how our everyday actions affect the delicate ecosystems around us.
For Southbroom Conservancy, this recognition is both an achievement and a responsibility - an opportunity to build on the work already being done, strengthen environmental awareness and encourage residents, visitors and local businesses to play their part in protecting our natural heritage.
We look forward to working alongside Ray Nkonyeni Municipality to support the ongoing care, management and protection of our beaches and coastal environment. Through collaboration, shared responsibility and community involvement, we can help ensure that Southbroom's coastline remains a natural treasure for generations to come.
From keeping our beaches free of litter and plastic to respecting wildlife, protecting sensitive habitats and caring for our estuaries, every action makes a difference.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Wessa Greencoast, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, our dedicated Conservancy team, our community partners, volunteers, Oceanfriendly - South Africa and everyone who contributes to keeping Southbroom beautiful.
This Green Flag belongs to our whole community.
Let's continue working together to protect what makes Southbroom so special, keep our beaches pristine and ensure that future generations can enjoy the same extraordinary natural beauty that we cherish today.
Proud of our coastline. Passionate about conservation. Committed to keeping Southbroom green.
