There are a few very pink regulars who take up residence here from time to time. 🦩
Flamingos move through the wider Southern African wetland system, shifting between sites depending on water levels and feeding conditions. When they arrive here, it’s because the lagoon is in the right condition - shallow, nutrient-rich, and full of the tiny life that sustains them. They spend their time feeding and resting, building energy for the long journeys still ahead, sometimes thousands of kilometres, often at night, always instinctive. And then, just as quietly, they move on again. For a while, though, they’re here, part of the landscape, and part of what makes it change day by day.
